Highlights
PolyU launched the year-long "Belt and Road Cross-Professional Advancement Programme" to aid professionals and business leaders in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland to explore opportunities along the Belt and Road.
 
The Government recently appointed Dr Lam Tai-fai and Dr Lawrence Li Kwok-chang as PolyU Council Chairman and Deputy Council Chairman respectively with effect from 1 January 2019. In addition, following President Prof. Timothy Tong's retirement at the end of 2018, Deputy President and Provost Prof. Philip C.H. Chan will take up the role of Interim President.

Viewpoint
New programmes to address societal needs

In the 2019/20 academic year, the Department of Computing and the Department of Applied Social Sciences will launch the BSc (Hons) in Financial Technology and Artificial Intelligence programme and BA (Hons) in Social Policy and Social Entrepreneurship programme respectively. The two new programmes are designed to meet the needs of society. 

 
Research
The University proudly supported the Chang'e-4 lunar probe with lunar topographic mapping and geomorphological analysis techniques and a jointly developed Camera Pointing System.

Connections
PolyU and Sun Yat-sen University signed an agreement to further research collaboration in support of the development of the Greater Bay Area.
