Sr Dr CHEUNG Tin-cheung

Chairman, Hong Kong Green Building Council

Higher Diploma in Surveying (Building Surveying) (1982)

 

Sr Dr Cheung Tin-cheung, is the Chairman of the Hong Kong Green Building Council, as well as an Adjunct Professor of the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong. After he acquired a Higher Diploma in Surveying from PolyU, he went on to earn his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the U.K., and his PhD degree in Hong Kong. With his professional qualifications in building surveying, property management and facility management, he is a Fellow of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, a Registered Professional Surveyor (BS), and an Honorary Fellow of The Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management. Previously the Director of Buildings of the HKSAR Government, Dr Cheung was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star in 2019 for his dedicated and meritorious service to the Government, particularly in promoting building safety and a sustainable built environment in Hong Kong.

Ir Ricky WONG Chi-pan, JP

Ir Ricky Wong Chi-pan,JP, a civil engineer by profession, has over 30 years of experience in Hong Kong in both the design and practical aspects of various engineering fields, including civil, coastal, and building engineering. His expertise spans project management, feasibility studies, design and construction supervision for urban development, environmental protection, site formation, drainage, sewerage, roads, and historic building revitalisation. In 2017, Ir Wong became Chief Engineer/Port Works, overseeing the construction and maintenance of port facilities and technical studies related to reclamation projects. While in this role, he was also involved in research and development aimed at enhancing marine structure design standards and maintenance, and their resilience under the effects of climate change. In June 2018, Ir Wong was appointed Deputy Head of the Civil Engineering Office (Port and Land) of the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD). He is now Head of the CEDD’s Civil Engineering Office.

Ms Michele LUI Wing-chi

Upon graduation from PolyU with a bachelor’s degree in Building Engineering and Management in 2012, Ms Michele Lui Wing-chi joined Hip Hing Construction Group as a Management Trainee. She participated in the Group’s hallmark projects, such as electrical power substations, Xiqu Centre at West Kowloon Cultural District, as well as Grade A office towers and luxurious residential property. Her experiences in Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) are also remarkable, including her role as the project-in-charge in the InnoCell project at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks, and temporary quarantine facilities at Pat Heung and Penny’s Bay. Once the Chairperson and Council Member of The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB HK) Novus, Ms Lui is currently the Council Member of PolyU Building and Real Estate Alumni Association, Officer of Hong Kong Construction Association Young Members’ Society (HKCA YMS), as well as a Member of Construction Industry Council (CIC) Young Affairs Committee, STEAM Alliance, Greater Bay Area Working Group, and Promotion, Sports & Voluntary Works Group under the Council. In recognition of her contributions to the construction industry, she was honoured with Chief Executive’s Commendation in 2022, and was named MiC Champion by CIC. On top of that, numerous accolades were bestowed upon Ms Lui, including Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS HK) Young Achiever of the Year 2021, and Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB HK) Construction Manager of the Year 2020. She also garnered CIC Outstanding Construction Manager Sustainability Award in 2020.

Prof. Song Mengjie is Head of the Frost Laboratory at the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), China. He also serves as a Guest Professor at Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Czech Republic. He holds bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD degrees from Hunan University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, respectively. Before joining BIT, Prof. Song worked at Nanyang Technological University, the University of Tokyo, and the University of Wollongong. His engineering experience includes roles as an Engineer at the Central–South Architectural Design Institute Company Limited, and as President’s Assistant at Beijing District Heating Group Company Limited. Prof. Song’s expertise spans 16 years, focusing on the study of heat and mass transfer flows. He has authored 199 journal articles and six books, and holds more than 20 patents. His 28 research projects have received funding of more than RMB40 million and span China, Japan, and Australia. Notably, in the field of frosting and defrosting, Prof. Song held the top scholar position worldwide from 2016 to 2023 according to Elsevier’s Find Reviewer database. He was also included in the World’s Top 2% Scientists list (Career & Singleyr) from 2020 to 2023, the National Youth Talent Project in 2021, the China–South Korea Young Scientists Exchange Program in 2023, and appears on Elsevier’s Chinese Highly Cited Scholars 2024.
