OPAA Mixer (4th Event)

25 Mar 2025

On 25 March 2025, the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Association held its fourth “OPAA Mixer”, warmly welcoming recipients of the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award at Faculty/School and Department levels to join as Associate Members. Over 50 guests attended the event, including University-level awardees from previous years, as well as Prof. Miranda Lou, Executive Vice President of PolyU, and Deans, Associate Deans, and other representatives from academic units.

Mr Dennis Ho Chiu-ping, President of the Association, expressed gratitude to everyone for attending. He took the opportunity to introduce the history, organisation, and programmes and activities of the Association to the new members. Besides, Prof. Miranda Lou shared her enthusiasm for the continuously expanding community of Outstanding PolyU Alumni, recognising the distinguished graduates who have dedicated themselves to their alma mater and society. Mr Ho and Prof. Lou then presented a special souvenir pin to each attending member, marking a moment rich in meaning.

The event featured a special sharing session, inviting Prof. Hongxia Yang, Associate Dean (Global Engagement) of the PolyU Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, and Professor of the Department of Computing, to speak on “GenAI for Healthcare”. She explored medicine-engineering integration, the development of health science, future opportunities, and more, inspiring participants to engage in active discussions and enquiries while eagerly exchanging experiences. Everyone looked forward to collaborating in relevant fields through the platform of the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Association, jointly supporting the University’s long-term development.

The fourth “OPAA Mixer” concluded successfully, marking a new chapter for the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Association with the involvement of new members. The strong connections among all award recipients will continue to foster the exchange of knowledge and resources, enhancing the collective strength aimed at advancing PolyU in the long run.
