During his stint, the group acquired the UK-based Kew Green Hotels, marking a major milestone in the history of China’s hotel industry and expanding the company’s reach on an international level. Later on, as the Global Chief Development Officer and Executive Vice President of Huazhu Hotel Group, Dr Sun was instrumental in facilitating the company’s growth to become the world’s 7th largest hotel group, transforming a mostly domestic hotel brand into one with truly international appeal and footprint. Since launching Yusu Hotel Management Co., Ltd. in 2019, Dr Sun has gained recognition as one of China’s most innovative hoteliers. The company’s UrCove brand, despite its short history and countless challenges amid the pandemic, has become a leading lifestyle brand in China with 23 operating hotels and 62 properties in the pipeline.
