Dr Danny TONG Wah-kun
Chief Manager (Nursing) / Chief Nurse Executive, Hospital Authority
Dr Danny Tong Wah-kun is among the nursing profession’s most accomplished and well-respected members. He is currently Chief Manager (Nursing) / Chief Nurse Executive at the Hospital Authority (HA), where he leads almost 30,000 nurses at all ranks. He is also responsible for the overall leadership, direction, strategic planning, and policy development in nursing education, professional development, nursing management, and nursing practice at the HA. After joining the HA in 1993, Dr Tong successfully established several important projects, including:
(i) the first Infectious Disease Centre, at Princess Margaret Hospital during SARS in 2003
(ii) the Infectious Disease Simulation Training Centre
(iii) the first local Infectious Disease Nursing Specialty training course in 2009
(iv) a review of the HA’s Nursing Standards
(v) a revamp of the post-creation framework for Nurse Consultants as an Executive Partner, between 2013 and 2015
(vi) the adoption of evidence-based practice (EBP) among HA-based nurses by establishing the corporate EBP and Research Promotion Working Group in 2017.
Dr Tong is also an outstanding nursing researcher. Since 2016, he has been an Adjunct Associate Professor of the PolyU School of Nursing (SN) and has chaired the Advisory Committee of the Squina International Centre for Infection Control. He is also a Co-Investigator of three ongoing SN research projects.
Dr KOR Pui-kin
Assistant Professor, School of Nursing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Dr Kor Pui-kin boasts distinguished achievements in nursing research and scholarly activities. He is currently an Assistant Professor and Programme Leader of the Master of Nursing of the PolyU School of Nursing. Over the past five years, Dr Kor has demonstrated his research excellence by securing over HK$7 million in grants for 12 research projects as Principal Investigator, and over HK$10 million in grants for 13 research projects as Co-investigator. He has also authored over 30 published journal papers with impact factors of up to 7.077. Notably, he was the lead author of 13 of these papers. Dr Kor has received numerous awards in nursing education, innovation, and scholarship. These include a PolyU President’s Award in 2023, a Wharton–QS Reimagine Education Regional Award in 2022, and the Scholarship Award for Academic Excellence and Outstanding Scholastic Achievement from Pi Iota Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Foundation for Nursing. These awards showcase his outstanding performance as an all-round nursing educator and scholar.
