In response to the challenges posed by an aging population, Mr Alex Lam Yuen-yik and his dedicated team at Libpet have made remarkable strides in the development of gerontechnology products. Collaborating with another PolyU alumnus Mr Jojo Xu Huafeng, Mr Lam successfully engineered a ground-breaking innovation: the TENK smart all-terrain wheelchair. This exceptional wheelchair utilises an exclusive patented wheel belt system, enabling smooth movement across rough terrains such as grasslands, beaches, and even stairs. Not only does this intelligent wheelchair enhance the quality of life for elderly and disabled individuals, but it also effectively eases the pressure and workload on healthcare workers. The outstanding merits of their product have garnered recognition on a national level. In September 2023, the TENK smart all-terrain wheelchair secured the esteemed National Runner-up prize in the renowned James Dyson Awards.
