The Hong Kong Polytechnic University – University Fellows Association organized its Signature Talk and Gala Dinner on 21 March 2018.
The Hon. Henry Tang Ying-yen, Chairman of the Board of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, was invited as speaker for the talk and Guest-of-Honour for the dinner. Conducted at the Jockey Club Innovation Tower, Dr Tang shared with an audience of over 120 guests at the talk the latest development of the West Kowloon Cultural District. President Prof. Timothy W. Tong said in his welcoming speech that PolyU shares similar vision of the West Kowloon Cultural District and has been actively promoting arts and culture among the students.
About 70 guests including University Fellows, PolyU Court and Council members, senior management, staff, student and alumni attended the dinner at Hotel ICON. Co-Chairpersons of the Association’s Management Committee, Ms Fiona Cheung Sum-yu and Dr Allen Shi Lop-tak addressed the participants, thanking members for their continuous support for the Association and its initiatives in the past three years.
Established in 2015, the PolyU - University Fellowships Association aims to foster fraternity among the University Fellows and to enhance their roles in promoting the University’s mission in education and serving the community. The Association now has 63 Founding Members and 35 Members including six 2017/18 University Fellows joining as new members.
The Association has been giving support to facilitate the all-round development of students. At the dinner, student development sponsorships were presented to Service-Learning winning projects and scholarships were given to outstanding PolyU student athletes. Highlights of the event also included students’ sharing of Service-Learning experience and rope skipping performance by PolyU students.
