Since the launch of the PolyU Alumni Ambassador Scheme in 2018, our ambassadors have been representing their alma mater in many events and activities. By publicising PolyU’s outstanding achievements in education, research and knowledge transfer, they show how the University has lived up to its motto - To learn and to apply, for the benefit of mankind.

PolyU is committed to nurturing bright minds who can contribute to the advancement of society. Winky Lui Ka-wing, who graduated with a double degree in mechanical engineering and business administration in 2015 and a master degree in mechanical engineering in 2019, is a good example of a young professional with a heart to serve society. A budding engineer working for The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited, Winky aspires to promote the use of clean and renewable energy. She is deeply devoted to promoting the development of the engineering industry as well as giving back to her alma mater.
She was appointed PolyU Alumni Ambassador to forge closer connections between alumni and the University. She actively supports the Hong Kong Polytechnic Mechanical and Marine Engineering Alumni Association and is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Alumni Associations.
“I feel privileged to have represented my alma mater as an alumni ambassador on various occasions. It was a very meaningful role. I had the chance to lead meetings and organise events, and to connect with peers and senior alumni from different professions. It helped expand my network too."
Winky was honoured with "The IET Hong Kong Young Woman Engineer of the Year Award" in 2020. As an engineering graduate, she strives to promote STEM education in primary and secondary schools, to provide guidance for engineering undergraduates, and to encourage females to join the engineering profession. She has set a role model for the young generation.
