An introduction to the hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin methods
Eric Chung [tschung@math.cuhk.edu.hk]
An introduction to the hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin methods
Bernardo Cockburn
Distinguished McKnight University Professor
University of Minnesota
Abstract
In this short course, we give an introduction to the study of the so-called hybridizable
discontinuous Galerkin(HDG) methods for the partial differential equations(PDEs).
These methods have the versatility of the DG methods for handling a wide variety of
PDEs and for producing high-order accurate approximations in unstructured meshes.
The HDG methods, however, were especially devised to render their implementability
very efficient, especially for high-degree polynomial approximations. They turned out
to be more accurate than all previously known DG methods for elliptic problems.
