Beijing is the nation's political, economic, cultural and educational center as well as China's most important center for international trade and communications. It has been the heart and soul of politics and society throughout its long history and consequently there is an unparalleled wealth of discovery to delight and intrigue travelers as they explore Beijing's ancient past and enjoy its exciting modern development.

As the capital of the People's Republic of China, Beijing is located in northern China, close to Tianjin Municipality and partially surrounded by Hebei Province. The city covers an area of more than 16,410 square kilometers (6336 square miles) and has a population of 14.93 million people. Beijing is a city with four distinct seasons. Its best is late spring and autumn. Beijing's long and illustrious history started some 500,000 years ago. For more than 800 years, Beijing was a capital city - from the Yuan Dynasty (1271 - 1368) to the Ming (1368 - 1644) and Qing (1644 - 1911) dynasties. Thirty-four emperors have lived and ruled the nation in Beijing and it has been an important trading city from its earliest days.

With the biggest central square in the world - Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City that is the largest and best-preserved imperial palace complex, a superbly preserved section of the Great Wall, as well as the largest sacrificial complex in the world - the Temple of Heaven, Beijing attracts both domestic and foreign visitors who all come to wonder at its century-old history and unique cultural relics.

The 2008 Olympics will be held in Beijing. Beijing 2008 will take place from 8 August 2008 until 24 August 2008. The Games in Beijing will play host to the 28 summer sports currently on the Olympic programmed. Approximately 10,500 athletes are expected to participate in the Olympic Games with around 20,000 accredited media bringing the Olympic Games to the world.

3. Aims :

This conference aims to continue to provide a forum for eminent researchers and practitioners working in nonlinear programming and its applications to gather together to report and exchange their latest works.

Transportation to Beijing Friendship Hotel (34km)

The most convenient way from Capital Airport to Friendship Hotel is to take Airport Bus Line 4 (From Capital Airport to Gongzhufen, First bus: 7:00, Final bus: 23:00). There is a stop at the Beijing Friendship Hotel. The bus of Route 4 starts every 10 minutes. It will start when it is fully occupied anytime at the Capital Airport. It may take about 45 minutes to get to Beijing Friendship Hotel. Ticket price: RMB 16 yuan which is around 1.6 Euro or 2.3 USD. Two ways to get to AMSS:

A) Take a taxi.: about 30 minutes in good traffic

B) Go by the airport bus. You can take the line 5 bus called airport to zhongguancun and get off at the terminus. You will see Siyuan building of AMSS on the other side of the road. The line 5 airport bus runs half-hourly. It starts at 8:30am in the morning and stop the service at 9:30pm. It takes about 40 minutes to get to AMSS. The fare is 16 yuan per head, you can buy the ticket from the bus conductor who is standing besides the bus.
