Retina-like sensors give machine better vision

Collecting high-quality visuals for visual inspection and identification tasks needs an accurate sensor. Recently, Dr Yang CHAI, the Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Physics, PolyU and Prof. Jong-Hyun AHN of Yon Sei University developed a vision sensor with photosensitivity. The sensor is inspired by the retina. It is made from molybdenum disulfide phototransistors, a thin semiconductor. It offers visual adaptation with highly localized and dynamic modulation of photosensitivity under different lighting conditions. It is beneficial to the development of self-driving vehicles and industry 4.0. The research paper is published on Nature Electronics.   Research Highlights:https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-022-00360-8 Full research paper: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41928-022-00713-1
