Instructions for participants

Background and Objectives:
The PolyU Fun-Tech Competition, organized by the Department of Applied Social Sciences (APSS), aims to spark the curiosity and enthusiasm of local youths in innovative science and technology. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies like VR, AR, and RFID, this competition will empower participants with the digital skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the 21st century, giving participants a unique learning experience.

Benefits for Participating Schools:
We offer a range of activities, including interactive workshops and conferences led by industry experts, to inspire participants’ enthusiasm for innovation and technology. These sessions cover the fundamentals of VR, AR, and RFID technologies, equipping participants with essential skills to excel in the competition and contribute to the local innovation and technology culture. The activities include the following:

Academic Conferences:
Attendees can learn from industry experts through their presentations and discussions.

VR and RFID Student Tutorials:
Students can participate in comprehensive tutorials to enhance their understanding of these technologies.

 

Teacher Training Workshops:
Teaching staff have the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills to integrate these technologies into their curriculum.

 

In-School Visits:

Our supporting teams will visit your school to for hands-on training and support upon request.

 

Two Competition Categories:

1. VR Video Creation Competition

Eligibility:
●  Junior Category: Local S.1-S.3
●  Senior Category: Local S.4-S.6
●  Each team can have four to six student participants
●  Each school can nominate two to four teams (preferably at least one from each category)

Awards Categories:

Junior Category
Champion HKD 1,000 book coupon and certificates
1st runner-up HKD 500 book coupon and certificates
Honorable mention (5 Teams) HKD 200 book coupon and certificates

Senior Category
Champion HKD 1,000 book coupon and certificates
1st runner-up HKD 500 book coupon and certificates
Honorable mention (5 teams) HKD 200 book coupon and certificates

 

2. Creative RFID Competition

Eligibility:
●  Junior Category: Local S.1-S.3
●  Senior Category: Local S.4-S.6
●  Each team can have four to six student participants
●  Each school can nominate two to four teams (preferably at least one from each category)

背景及目標：

由香港理工大學應用社會科學系主辦的「Fun-Tech 比賽2024」，旨在激發本地青年對創新科技的好奇心和熱情。通過運用尖端技術如虛擬實境（VR）、擴增實境（AR）和無線射頻識別（RFID）等，參賽者將獲得21世紀所需的數碼技能和知識,從而獲得獨特的學習體驗。

參與學校的好處：

我們提供一系列活動，包括由業界專家主講的互動工作坊和會議，激發參賽者對創新和科技的熱情。這些環節涵蓋VR、AR和RFID技術的基本概念，為參賽者在比賽中表現出色，並為本地創新和科技文化作出貢獻奠定了基礎。活動包括以下內容：

• 學術會議：參加者可以從業界專家的演講和討論中獲益。
• VR/RFID學生課程：學生可參加全面的教學，加深對這些技術的理解。
• 教師培訓工作坊：為教職員提供機會，學習如何將虛擬實境、擴增實境和無線射頻識別等技術融入課程教學，增進相關知識和技能。
• 到校講座：我們的支援團隊可應要求到您的學校進行實地培訓和支援。

比賽分為兩個組別：

 

1. VR影片創作比賽

參加資格

• 初級組：本地中一至中三

• 高級組：本地中四至中六
• 每隊可有4至6名學生參加
• 每間學校可提名2至4隊（每組別至少一隊為佳）

 

獎項

初級組

• 冠軍： 港幣1,000元書券及證書
• 亞軍： 港幣500元書券及證書
• 榮譽提名獎（5隊）：港幣200元書券及證書

高級組

• 冠軍： 港幣1,000元書券及證書
• 亞軍： 港幣500元書券及證書
• 榮譽提名獎（5隊）： 港幣200元書券及證書
