Biography

Dr Mok is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Social Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Before joining PolyU, he taught at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Metropolitan University (formerly The Open University of Hong Kong), and HKU SPACE.

 

Dr Mok's research agenda is based on the sociology of culture, sociology of religion, and sociology of institutions. One of his ongoing projects examines how Roman Catholic practitioners in contemporary China make ethical evaluations in an authoritarian situation. Its analytical framework is mainly based on the institutional logics perspective. Another ongoing project investigates production logics and culture in the Hong Kong film industry.

 

Dr Mok's work has been published in high-ranking journal, such as China Quarterly, Social Compass, Mobilisation, The China Journal, Political Research Quarterly, and Journal of Contemporary China. He has also frequently answered journalistic inquires on Sino-Vatican relations.

 

Dr Mok currently serves as an executive board member of the Society for Hong Kong Studies.
