BRE Distinguished Lecture successfully conclude.   BRE Distinguished Lecture was held last Friday, 18 February 2022.  With the latest hot topic, “Northern Metropolis – Opportunities for Making of an Innovation and Technology Industry Eco-system”, the event was well received with more than 150 eminent professionals and academia joining online.  Prof. Michael Yam, Head of Department, delivered a welcome speech and thanked the participants for active participation in the Lecture.   It was our great pleasure to have Prof. Ling Kar-kan, Strategic Planning Advisor for Hong Kong/ Shenzhen Co-operation, for delivering an insightful and informative presentation regarding the Northern Metropolis Development Strategy.  The Lecture gave us a blueprint on how the Northern Metropolis will be developed into the second economic engine of Hong Kong and a promising place to live in, work and travel.  The Lecture offered resourceful and constructive discussions to the participants.   We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Daniel Chan, Prof. Tarek Zayed and Prof. Eddie Hui, Associate Heads of Department, for making time in their busy schedules to be with us in the Lecture. Experiential Learning on Site Safety 2021-2022 Training Scheme - By CIC and HKCA

Safety is always the first priority at the construction site. To inspire our undergraduate students and raise their awareness of construction safety, around twenty students joined the 1.5-day training, “Experiential Learning on Site Safety 2021 – 2022” Training Scheme, which is co-organised by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the Hong Kong Construction Association (HKCA) on 19 – 20 December 2021. The training was well-received by our students. They have gained lots of invaluable knowledge on construction safety, work-at-height, lifting operations and more through the first day of interactive and structured training. To enhance the students’ safety awareness and experience the real situation, they have joined the simulation-based training to model real accident scenarios in eight different training zones, including Chemical & Electrical Safety, Fire Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, Work-at-Height, and so on.
