Congratulations to Dr. Meng NI (an Associate Professor at BRE) on his success in winning a big grant on Wastewater-derived Energy for Smart Towns from Innovation Technology Fund(ITF) as aco-principal investigator (Co-PI). This project involves 7 colleagues including Dr.Henry Lee (CEE, Co-PI), Dr. Meng NI (BRE, Co-PI), Dr. Ben Leu (CEE,Co-I), Dr. Mark Hsu (CEE, Co-I), Prof. XZ Li (CEE, Co-I), Dr. Daniel Tsang (CEE, Co-I) and Prof. XD Li (CEE,team leader).
Three innovative technologies are incorporated in this project for (1) removal of organics and nitrogen from sewage; (2) sludge reduction, biog as production, and odor control; and (3)direct conversion of biogas into electrical power. Dr. Ni will carry out research on direct conversion of bio gas into electrical power using solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs).
