A meeting between members of the TRS Project and Prof. Johnny C L Chan of CityU: A discussion about the typhoon meteorology

On January 15, 2024, Prof. Johnny C L Chan of CityU have a detailed discussion with key members of the TRS project, i.e., Prof. Yi-Qing Ni, Prof. Song-Ye Zhu, Prof. Huan-Feng Duan, Prof. You Dong, Prof. Siu-Kai Lai, Prof. Kai Zhou, Prof. Si-Wei Liu, Dr. E Deng, Dr. Zheng-Wei Chen, and Dr. You-Wu Wang, on the application of typhoon meteorological research in this project.

Firstly, Prof. Ni warmly welcomed Prof. Chan and introduced the research experience in detail. Prof. Chan pointed out that the application of observation data is particularly important in the urban wind field research. He also said that the selection of measurement points is also critical in the application of LiDAR for the observation of typhoon boundary layer, which needs to be rearranged according to the distribution of buildings.

Afterwards, Dr. Chen introduced the research progress of the LiDAR data in the Hong Kong International Airport and Dr. Deng introduced the research progress on the climate trend of the global tropical cyclone precipitation change.

Finally, Prof. Chan gave corresponding constructive suggestions and guidance.
