Summary

The 2024 forum is jointly organised by the Faculty of Humanities, the Department of Chinese History and Culture, and the Research Centre for Chinese History and Culture at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The forum convene scholars from Tsinghua University, Hanyang University, Nankai University, and National Taiwan University, providing a platform for sharing research experiences and exchanging ideas. The theme of the 16th forum is “The Formation of East Asian Academic Communities: Histories, Discourses, and Practices.” The forum aims to explore the formation of the East Asian academic community in the pre-modern period, its disintegration in the modern era, as well as the possibilities, pathways, and goals that could guide the reconstruction of this community in the 21st century.
