Development of space tools
Mars Rock Corer, a rock sampling tool jointly developed by leading PolyU engineers and a local dentist, became the first Chinese made instrument launched to space in a European Space Agency (ESA) spacecraft, Beagle2 Lander on 3 June 2003. This sophisticated space tool also captured a gold medal in the world exhibition Brussels Eureka 2001, and was labeled as the most important tool to help unlock the mystery of exobiology on Mars.

發展太空工具
由理大科研人員與一位牙醫開發的一組太空儀器「岩芯取樣器」，在2003年6月3日隨歐洲太空總署的「獵犬二號」登陸船升空，遠征火星，成為首個由中國人研製參與外星球登陸行動的太空工具。它在2001年布魯塞爾世界創新科技博覽會中奪得金獎，也被公認為是解開地球以外行星是否存有生物的奧秘最重要的儀器。
