The 75th Anniversary marks an important milestone in the development of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and is a truly memorable occasion for our staff members, students, alumni and friends. In my capacity as Council Chairman, it is my great pleasure to be part of these joyous celebrations.

As the University's Council Chairman, I take great pride in working closely with a team of highly dedicated Council members, outstanding staff and energetic students for the further development of the University. PolyU has come a long way since its establishment and its progress has paralleled that of the Hong Kong community. We are working with dedication to drive the continued growth of Hong Kong and to complement the strategic advancement of our nation.

The local higher education sector is undergoing a major transformation, and PolyU stands ready to rise up to the challenges and make the most of opportunities they bring. We will remain aware of the changes of our time, and capitalize on our strengths to set a fine example in teaching and research, and thereby scale new heights in the nurturing of talents, transfer of knowledge and advancement of innovative research.

I sincerely hope that PolyU will continue to enjoy strong support from various sectors of the community. Building on the solid foundation laid by our predecessors and with the concerted efforts of all PolyU members, I am confident that we will make even bigger contribution to our society and bring PolyU to its next level of excellence.
