Proven effectiveness of orthokeratology in myopic control

Prof. Pauline Cho of PolyU’s School of Optometry and her research team conducted a study which proved that orthokeratology, a non-surgical means of vision correction, not only corrects refractive error, but is also effective in slowing the progression of myopia.

Myopia is a refractive defect of the eye in which collimated light produces image focus in front of the retina. The longer the eyeball length, the higher degree of myopia. Optometrist will dispense a pair of specially designed rigid contact lens to the patients of ortholeratology for wearing during sleep time. Made from high oxygen permeable material, the lens will modify the corneal shape and correct the focus of the eye.  Details>>
