A total of twelve winners of the 2012 Bauhinia Cup Outstanding Entrepreneur Awards were presented with the coveted honour by the Honourable Jasper Tsang Yok-sing, President of the Legislative Council; Ms Yin Xiaojing, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; and Prof. Timothy W. Tong, PolyU President, at a gala dinner held at Hotel ICON on 28 February. The event is staged as a major activity of the University’s 75th Anniversary celebrations. It aims at recognizing the entrepreneurial spirit and successful experiences of outstanding private enterprises on the Chinese mainland, and acknowledging their contributions towards the economic and social development of the country. It also provides an interactive platform for the business sectors in Hong Kong and the mainland to exchange their experiences and collaborate, so as to create more business opportunities, thereby further promoting the economic development of the country as a whole. The Bauhinia Cup Awards scheme, organized by PolyU for the seventh time this year since its launch in 1997, has honoured a total of about 130 outstanding entrepreneurs from the mainland.
