To celebrate PolyU's 75th anniversary and the College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE)'s 10th anniversary, CPCE invited Prof. Sir James Alexander Mirrlees, Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences (1996), to speak at the Distinguished Lecture on 20 April. Prof. Mirrlees presented his ideas on the relationships between production, people, and population growth at the lecture titled “Population Concerns: Ageing in Hong Kong”. He further explored the dilemmas and uncertainties that Hong Kong is facing in terms of immigration and retirement policy. Prof. Peter Yuen, Dean of CPCE, a discussant at the forum, gave an analysis of Hong Kong's readiness to deal with an ageing population. He pointed out that in terms of health care, long-term care, and workforce related policies, Hong Kong is poorly prepared as compared to some of its neighbours. More More photos
