PolyU welcomes freshmen of double cohort year

Prof. Timothy W. Tong re-appointed as PolyU President

With the implementation of the new four-year undergraduate curriculum, PolyU welcomed over 7,500 first-year students at the start of the new academic year on 17 September.

The double cohort year sees the admission of some 2,440 and 2,340 students respectively for the three-year and four-year Bachelor’s degree programmes funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC), while another 1,810 full-time students have been enrolled for UGC-funded higher diploma programmes. In addition, about 280 Chinese mainland students and 100 international students from 22 countries and territories are joining PolyU this year.

The new academic year also sees the completion of the new Homantin Halls to cope with the increase in student numbers. Situated at the junction of Chatham Road North and Fat Kwong Street, the new Homantin Halls provide 1,650 hostel places and are comprised of six individual halls. Each individual hall features a distinctive theme, represented by a colour of the rainbow, to facilitate the growth of students. Details>>
