Glittering climax to PolyU’s 75th Anniversary Celebration |
The year-long celebration of PolyU’s 75th Anniversary came to a climax in November, with a series of events bringing together elite scholars in the academia, great minds in the world of economics, as well as government and industry heavyweights. On 13-14 November, the “First Summit on University Social Responsibility” was jointly organized by PolyU and the China Institute of Education Policy, with the participation of over 200 higher education leaders at home and abroad. Prestigious scholars from the Chinese mainland, Taiwan and around the globe shared their views on the relationship between university development and social responsibility in an era of Globalization. Details>> Another conference on 14 November saw a full house of 400 audience sharing insights from worldwide economic gurus under the topic “Stabilizing the World Economy”. PolyU joined hands with Prof. Robert Mundell, Nobel Laureate in Economics, Professor of Economics at Columbia University, to organize this PolyU’s 75th Anniversary Conference, with the assistance of PolyU’s School of Accounting and Finance. Details>> In addition, the 75th Anniversary Gala Dinner was staged on 13 November at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Chief Executive Mr CY Leung, an alumnus of the University, was the Guest of Honour of the event. The presence of some 1,000 members and friends of PolyU, including Council Chairmen and distinguished alumni in different era has graced this memorable event which has raised HK$11 million for the future development of the University.
