The event is aimed to demonstrate to the public the unity of the PolyU community and to raise fund for PolyU and the community. It is also hoped that the PolyU community can join hands to make a new world record by forming a human rainbow.

理大希望透過此項大型活動發揮合作精神，並為校方及本港慈善團體籌款。此外，透過理大師生及校友的積極參與，希望能在當日一起製造一幅由最多人組成的彩虹圖形，打破過往的世界紀錄。
