The National Academy of Inventors and Intellectual Property Owners Association granted the "Top 100 Worldwide University in U.S. Patents Granted in 2013" award to PolyU. With a total of 30 patents granted in 2013, PolyU came first in patented inventions among local tertiary institutions and ranked 67th among worldwide universities.
