Recently, Dr Agachai Sumalee at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering won the 2014 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Science Prize for Innovation, Research and Education, in recognition of his research excellence in transportation system, transport modelling and planning for predicting traffic conditions and preventing congestions. His close collaboration with scientists from other APEC member economies is also being recognized. One of his remarkable accomplishments is his effort in alleviating problems on the highly congested streets in Bangkok, Thailand.
