Prof. Teng Jin-guang, Chair Professor of Structural Engineering and Director of Research Institute for Sustainable Urban Development, has recently been elected a Corresponding Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland’s national academy of science and letters. Corresponding Fellows of the Society are persons who are not normally resident in the UK and have attained high international standing. Prof. Teng was elected a Corresponding Fellow in recognition of his pioneering and outstanding research achievements in the areas of Structural Use of Fibre-Reinforced Polymer Composites and Thin-walled Structures.
Established in 1783, the Royal Society of Edinburgh elects Fellows from a wide range of disciplines: science and technology, arts, humanities, social science, business and public service. It currently has about 1,600 Fellows, including about 120 Fellows in the field of engineering. It has 70 Honorary Fellows and 73 Corresponding Fellows.
