PolyU was named a Golden Winner in the category of Regional Award Asia at the Wharton-QS Stars Awards 2015: Reimagine Education in Philadelphia, US, with the project “A personal learning environment and network (PLE&N) to support peer-based, social and lifelong learning”. Led by Prof. Eric Tsui at the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, the winning project was about the adoption of a set of public domain tools in the cloud in support of personalised, peer-based social learning to supplement formal classroom learning.
Known as the Oscars of Higher Education, this global competition recognised the world’s most innovative projects designed to improve pedagogy and/or employability. This year, submissions from 520 universities and enterprises in 50 countries were received, with 22 awards given out by a panel of 40 international experts – all from “who’s who” of higher education.
