With a necklace design named “Spirit of virtue”, Katerina Spinos, a Year 1 student in product design at the School of Design, was selected as one of the three winners of L’École Van Cleef & Arpels, a Hong Kong Legacy Programme called “Jewelery: Myths, Fairy-tale and Legends”.
Also, three students at the Department of Computing have earlier bagged the Champions in the three categories at the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2016 Hong Kong Final which was organized by Microsoft Hong Kong and co-organized by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation. Their winning projects were: “Wheelman” – an app to help wheel-chair users identify the nearest barrier-free facility winning in “World citizenship” category; “HelloPlant” – an educational simulation game about realism that teaches users to interact with the living world winning in “Game” category; and “KinectGarten” – an app to respond to the hectic school lives for students winning “Innovation” categories. Congratulations to students: Peter Ho Man-fai, Zackary Sin Ping-tat and Lau Shiu-fung!
Another computing student, Ho Yik-him has also won first place in the undergraduate section at the IEEE Region 10 Paper Contests 2015 organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (Hong Kong section) for presentation of his paper titled “Indoor positioning algorithms for iBeacon”.
