On 27 April, PolyU and the government of Banan District of Chongqing City has signed a collaboration agreement on the joint establishment of the Institute of Translational Medicine. The Institute will advance translational medicine researches in China through effective transfer of research outputs to collaborative platform in treatments for diseases. Officiating at the signing ceremony were Mr Song Kui, Member of Banan District Party Committee and Deputy District Chief in Chongqing City and Prof. Alex Wai, PolyU Vice President (Research Development).
Taking advantages of clinical and research strengths from both parties, the “Chongqing Banan – PolyU Institute of Translational Medicine” will focus on clinical issues such as anti-cancer drugs, medical imaging and genetic diagnosis and thus to develop related medication and diagnostic devices. It not only deepens international collaboration and industry partnership in translational medicine; but also offers cost-effective medical solutions for patients.
