The PolyU community was deeply saddened to learn that Dame Zaha Hadid, the world-renowned architect, passed away on 31 March in Miami, USA.
Renowned for her built, theoretical and academic work, Dame Zaha was regarded as one of the world’s great architects of our time with numerous awards. PolyU is proud to be associated with Dame Zaha, whose dynamic projects were commissioned around the world, when she was appointed in 2007 as architect of the University’s new capital project – the Jockey Club Innovation Tower. This iconic building has not only become our campus’ new landmark, but has also initiated creative and multidisciplinary environment where innovations can influence each other. We are grateful for her contribution to the University’s effort to be a driving force in the development of Hong Kong as a design hub in Asia.
