To foster the development of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, the Faculty of Engineering and Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education jointly organized a three-day STEM workshop for secondary school teachers. Participating teachers from over 50 secondary schools not only learned subject knowledge, but also gained hands-on experience in cell-powered toy car production, robotic control and applications and mobile apps development. This would assist them in understanding how to arouse students’ interest in scientific research.
Around the same time, PolyU’s Engineering Summer Camp was successfully held. Over 230 secondary school students took part in 11 engineering projects spanning six academic disciplines. Students gained valuable experience through activities including competitions, industrial organization visits and networking with alumni at high-table dinner.
