Congratulations to Prof. Timothy W. Tong, PolyU President, on being honoured with the “Outstanding Achievement Award” by the Professional Validation Council of Hong Kong Industries, in recognition of his contributions to integrating bright minds with research and development resources as well as maintaining close ties with the industry! On 13 December, the honour was presented to him by the Secretary for Education Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim at the Honorary Fellowship and Fellowship Conferment Ceremony 2016.
In his response speech, Prof. Tong said that the honour remarked not only the concerted efforts and accomplishments of PolyU’s academics and students, but also the encouragement and recognition for the University. PolyU takes pride in being a world-class university that excels in applied research and partnership for the betterment of Hong Kong, the nation and the world. He proudly said, “Our academics not only focus on pure research and academic papers, but more importantly, on finding solutions to tackle social problems and working in close collaboration with the industry”.
