PolyU has a long history of involvement in national and international space projects. In celebration of the University's 80th anniversary this year, a series of public lectures and events is in the pipeline to enhance the community's understanding of space exploration and to showcase the nation's achievement in aerospace development.
Public lecture on the aerospace development in the Chinese mainland
On 27 June, PolyU organised a public lecture titled "New Era for China Aerospace: The Milestone of China Aerospace Development and Challenges and HK Opportunities". Experts introduced the aerospace development in the Chinese mainland and the prospect of mainland's space technology.
Meeting with national astronauts
With the support of Shine Tak Foundation, three national astronauts: Yang Liwei, Jing Haipeng and Chen Dong visited PolyU on 29 June. They met with the University's senior management and had a sharing on the development in space exploration with some 120 secondary school students.
Visit by aerospace technology expert delegation
Yuegong-1 Chief Designer Liu Hong and representatives of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region met with PolyU researchers for an exchange. They also gave a brief on Yuegong-1 related research projects.
Forum on technology and aerospace development
A talk on technology and aerospace development was held on campus, with the participation of representatives from the information technology and professional service industries.
