As a key celebratory event of PolyU's 80th Anniversary, the Times Higher Education (THE) Innovation and Impact Summit co-hosted by PolyU and THE has come to a fruitful close. More than 200 delegates from 34 countries went through inspiring keynote speeches and thought-provoking panel discussions on how universities breed new ideasto address the grand global challenges.
On 31 May, the Summit started with the PolyU Showcase, a pre-summit workshop, where delegates were taken on journeys to experience PolyU's innovations and impactful research in four niche areas: space, aviation and railway; sustainable urban development; human-centered innovation; and hospitality.
In the following two days, influential higher education figures, innovators, entrepreneurs and policy-makers, including opening keynote speaker Mr Charles Chen Yidan, Founder of Yidan Prize and Core Founder of Tencent Holdings Limited, gave deep insights into the Summit theme.
Not long after the opening of the Summit,#THEinnovation became the second top "trending topic" on Twitter in the UK, attracting the attention of some 700,000 Twitter users, with many of them following the discussion. Details>>
