On 2-3 December, the 80th Anniversary Open Day was held to showcase the University’s latest developments and achievements as well as its wealth of facilities to the public. The two-day event featured over 100 spectacular programmes and activities, including themed showcases, talks, interesting workshops, guided tours, fun games and performances.
A highlight of the Open Day was the cycling activity “8 x 80 Cycling”, which brought together over 400 PolyU staff, students, alumni and their families and friends to bike through the University campus and Yau Tsim Mong. Open Day video >>
On 7 December, over 100 leaders of more than 30 higher education institutions from 20 countries and regions participated in the Presidents’ Forum. Under the theme “Transformative Power of Universities for Our Future”, higher education leaders exchanged views on how universities can transform the world in view of the current and future global challenges. On the same day, some 2,000 local and overseas guests attended the University’s 80th Anniversary Celebration Dinner. Chief Executive the Hon Mrs Carrie Lam, joined by a stage party of over 40 distinguished guests, officiated a glittering lighting ceremony. A video capturing PolyU’s proud history and remarkable accomplishments was shown during the dinner. World-renowned pianist and University Fellow Mr Lang Lang also gave a stunning performance.
