On 6 April, the “Youreable” Fashion Design 2018 Award Presentation Ceremony was graced by the presence of Chief Executive Mrs Carrie Lam. At the event, Mrs Lam was presented a jacket entitled “United Hong Kong” (團結香港) which was created by wheelchair-bound designer Ms Ng Kwei-ling, one of the shortlisted participants of this year’s event.
Organised by the Troels H. Povlsen Care Apparel Centre under PolyU’s Institute of Textiles and Clothing, the annual “Youreable” Fashion Design event is very popular among the disabled groups. It offered the elderly and the disabled a platform to unleash talent in fashion design, boost confidence and enhance communication skills.
The event also provided valuable Service-Learning experience for some 100 PolyU students who assisted the designers in fabric selection, fitting and sewing to turn innovative ideas into real clothing for their loved ones. Details>>
