Hong Kong has seen a surge for start-ups in recent years as more young people are pursuing entrepreneurship with their innovations, hence adding flexibility and dynamism to society. PolyU has long been supporting start-ups of students and graduates with funding, training, networking and mentorship etc. This also facilitates the city’s development into a regional hub for innovation and technology.

On 29 June, the University staged the PolyU Entrepreneurship Parade 2018 to commemorate the birth of a new batch of 40 innovative start-ups supported by PolyU. The start-ups are of diverse nature, covering a wide spectrum of products, services and technologies. Quite a number of them have successfully commercialised their products in the market, including:

The Parade also featured panel discussion on the “Challenges and Opportunities for Developing Innovations and Entrepreneurship in the Greater Bay Area” and “Incubating Deep Technology”. Following the Parade is the Startup Weekend PolyU. Under the mentorship of start-up founders, some 50 students and graduates from PolyU and other institutions have a taste of developing innovative ideas into viable business models, then presenting their plans to the judges to compete for various awards.
