Students’ creativity applauded by Chief Executive
In a tea gathering at the Government House held on the 21st anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, two PolyU student and graduate teams received commendation from Chief Executive Mrs Carrie Lam for their award-winning novel designs to solve daily life problems.
- A team of PolyU occupational therapy students bagged the Gold Award, Peer's Choice Award and Public’s Choice Award at the Global Student Innovation Challenge for Assistive Technology with the invention of “Roller-Clother” - a rollable clothing organiser with height-adjustable pockets for wheelchair users and elderly people to store and take clothes easily. The winning team is consisted of Chan Ka-wai, Chan Wing-yuk, Chung Wing-yan, Leung Ka-wai and Ngan Sing-ho.
- Another graduate team from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, comprising Tam Lik-him, Wong Chun-hei, Tse Kim-to and Wong Tsz-wai, won the iF Design Talent Award of Germany with a creative solution to the problem of co-living in small apartments. Their design allows customised private rooms of individuals to be easily converted and connected to form a part of the common zone when desired.
