Institute of Translational Medicine

This April, PolyU and the government of the Banan District of Chongqing City signed a collaborative agreement on the establishment of the Institute of Translational Medicine. The Institute will advance translational medicine research in China through the effective transfer of research outputs to a collaborative platform for the treatment of disease.

Officiating at the signing ceremony were Mr Song Kui, Member of the Banan District Party Committee and Deputy District Chief of Chongqing City, and Prof. Alex Wai, PolyU Vice President (Research Development).

Taking advantage of the clinical and research strengths of both parties, the Institute will focus on clinical issues such as anti-cancer drugs, medical imaging and genetic diagnosis, and thus develop related medication and diagnostic devices. It will not only deepen international collaboration and industry partnership in translational medicine, but will also offer cost-effective medical solutions for patients.
