Summary

Let us Shine! is a multimedia performance led by the renowned composer Dr Mui Kwong-chiu with the concerted effort from artists from PolyU and Lee Hysan Foundation recorded during COVID-19.

The project was originally conceived as a “MULTIMEDIA LIVE PERFORMANCE” spearheaded by renowned composer Dr Mui Kwong Chiu (awarded 2019 Artist of the year (MUSIC) by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council) to showcase PolyU artists and Lee Hysan Foundation grantees in different art forms at the first-class Jockey Club Auditorium located at PolyU in March 2020.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was delayed twice (to June 2020 and February 2021) and eventually all parties agreed to cancel given the uncertainty of COVID-19 and the availability of the performers and the production team. We have reluctantly settled to record the rehearsal sessions of the 10 individual performers/performing units and edit the footage into a video with Dr Mui’s best efforts. Please refer to the final video here with segmented performances below:

Although this video does not do justice to the original vision of the project given the lack of stage props/effects, multimedia elements, and collaboration between multiple performers on stage, we hope you will enjoy the terrific artistry and creativity of the performers.
