Winner of the President's Award for Excellent Performance and Achievement in Teaching 2001/02

Associate Professor in the Department of Accountancy, joined the University in November 1984. Dr Chan is honoured for his outstanding performance and achievements in Teaching. Dr Chan is a dedicated and knowledgeable teacher in the area of taxation. He has, with the technical support of the Education Development Centre (EDC), developed a WebCT student self-learning package on Hong Kong taxation. This website was chosen by the EDC as an exemplary site in a MegaWeb showcase seminar organized by the EDC. Dr Chan has also designed, developed and conducted an online taxation course “Hong Kong Taxation Framework” for the Master/Postgraduate Diploma programme in Professional Accounting for the CyberU - a new initiative in PolyU. In November 2001, in recognition of Dr Chan’s continuous outstanding teaching performance, the Department of Accounting awarded him their first Outstanding Teaching Award for Postgraduate Programmes. Dr Chan is now serving on the Council and the Taxation Review Committee of the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong, and is a member of the Board of Review, the only tax appeal tribunal in Hong Kong.
