Professor Horace Ip was Vice-President (student Affairs) and is currently the Lee Shau Kee professor of e-Learning and Chair professor of Computer Science at City University of Hong Kong. His research and innovations in the fields of multimedia, pattern recognition, virtual reality, and e-learning technologies have won numerous awards, including a Gold Medal from the Salon International Des Inventions, Geneva, Prix Ars Electronica, Austria. Professor Ip was also recognized as one of world’s distinguished innovators by TIME magazine in 2007. In 2004, he was awarded the prestigious fellow of the International Association for Pattern Recognition. He has published over 300 papers in international journals and conference proceedings and was a founding member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal on Multimedia Retrieval.
