Biography
Dr. Wei Liu is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He received his Ph.D. degree in EEE from The University of Hong Kong (HKU), in 2021. Subsequently, he joined HKU as a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Department of EEE in 2021, and then was promoted to Research Assistant Professor in 2022. He has been an Honorary Assistant Professor at the Department of EEE, HKU, since 2023. Previously, he also served as a Visiting Researcher with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU) in 2019. Starting in September 2023, Dr. Liu joins the Department of EEE and is also the Manager of Research Centre for Electric Vehicles in PolyU. His research interests include electric vehicle technologies, power electronics with artificial intelligence, wireless power transfer, biomedical power electronics, and power semiconductor devices. He has been awarded the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University according to a single-year impact in the field of EEE since 2023 (Top 0.8% in 2024).
Dr. Liu was the recipient of Power Engineering Prize from HKU, National Scholarship, Excellent Paper Awards, and Best Presentation Award from international conferences in the area of Electric Vehicles and Transportation Electrification. He is a Guest Associate Editor of IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics (JESTPE), Associate Editor of international journals, and Session Chair of international conferences.
