University Governance
The Council and Management of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) are fully committed to achievement of the institutional mission under the principles of good governance. These principles emphasise academic freedom and autonomy, performance in terms of added value to student education and academic advancement, public accountability and social responsibility, transparency, ethics and professionalism.
PolyU has, over the years, developed a comprehensive framework of systems, structures, procedures, rules and regulations to ensure that the University is effectively managed and is accountable to the public in all of its operations.
The Code of Practice on Governance, which consolidates and codifies all relevant governance issues into a single reference document, provides clear guidelines on institutional operations, not only for Council Members but for all members of the University with a view to assisting them in carrying out their duties in learning and teaching, research, knowledge transfer, campus development, finance and investment as well as human resources, in an independent and objective manner, while serving the University’s best interests.
