Prof. Edman TSANG Shik-chi
Professor in Inorganic Chemistry, University of Oxford
Professor Tsang, currently Professor in Inorganic Chemistry and the head of Wolfson Catalysis Laboratory at the University of Oxford, is a world-leading expert in chemical materials and green catalysis. Decorated with numerous international awards, he has published six book chapters and more than 450 papers in refereed publications including Science and Nature. His works have been cited more than 23,146 times, with an h-index of 72. He is also a proud owner of 16 patents.
In his early career, Prof. Tsang was amongst the world’s top researchers in the synthesis and catalytic properties of carbon nanotubes. His pioneering and seminal works on opening and filling carbon nanotubes have sparked global attention on nano-materials. He is also the first known scientist modifying carbon nanotubes with biological enzymes or related biomaterials.
As Prof. Tsang continued to develop nanotechnologies to manipulate chemical materials, he also used them as new catalysts in green energy and environmental sectors. Such catalysts are found to substantially reduce energy consumption and minimise waste generation.
