Sr Ben CHAN Siu-bun

Sr Chan graduated from the Centre of Land and Engineering Surveying of the then Hong Kong Polytechnic, recognised by Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) for full accreditation. After joining the Lands Department in 1990, he pursued his MSc studies in Geographical Information System and Geodetic Survey in the U.K. in 1992 and 2002 respectively. 

He made significant contributions to the first online Hong Kong map for tourists, internet broadcasting of GPS correctional signals, and 3D city mapping. Whilst serving as the Principal Government Land Surveyor and Deputy Director (Survey & Mapping) in the Lands Department, Sr Chan took the lead to rebrand the Survey and Mapping Office with a new motto -- “To bring spatial data to life, to build a smart city via surveying and mapping”. He also fostered free public access to government digital maps and furthered the development of the industry. 

Sr Chan has long been fostering collaborations among the government, industry, academia and research institutes. He was the Chair of RICS’ Geomatics Committee, a Member of the RICS Hong Kong Advisory Board, an External Examiner of PolyU’s Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics, and a Member of the Built Environment Panel of Research Assessment Exercise under the University Grants Committee.

Mr Zhang is the Founder and Managing Director of Geosys Hong Kong Limited and Shenzhen Intergeo Innovation Technology Company Limited, a world-leading geospatial technology solution provider. After graduating from PolyU’s Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics with a master’s degree in Geo-informatics, he started his career in Leica Geosystem and Intergraph before founding Geosys in 2014, leading an R&D team in digital surveying and mapping technologies and a project team providing professional services.

The VR3D™ digital twin cloud platform is one of Geosys’ signature products based on cloud computing, artificial intelligence and patented 3D GIS platform engine technologies, for industry-leading cloud service with reliable performance and powerful functions. It is now adopted by the Hong Kong Police Force, Planning Department, Lands Department, CEDD, Housing Authority, Urban Renewal Authority, Architectural Services Department, Shenzhen City Planning and Natural Resources Bureau, as well as many public developers and contractors.
