On 26 July 2024, around 110 graduating students gathered at the Alumni Atrium for the Briefing Sessions for Graduating Class Ambassadors (GCAs).
The GCAs were embraced with open arms by the PolyU Alumni family. During the introduction, Ms Wanze Li, Assistant Director of the Alumni Affairs Office, emphasised the crucial role of GCAs in fostering connections between the alma mater and their peers. She called upon everyone to get involved and volunteer for the upcoming alumni events, including the Alumni Homecoming Day scheduled for 19 October. Equally passionate about meeting the Class of 2024, Ir Yau Kwok-fai, President of the Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations, encouraged the GCAs to join alumni associations to expand their social networks and broaden their horizons.
In addition to receiving certificates of appointment, each attending GCA was presented with a PolyU pin by Ms Maewoon Diana Liu, Director of Alumni Affairs, and Ir Yau. The Alumni Atrium buzzed with anticipation as these young connectors mingled with the alumni leaders and formed new friendships during such a memorable occasion.
This year, more than 270 final-year students from various faculties and schools of PolyU, as well as the Hong Kong Community College, have been nominated as GCAs. We extend our gratitude to the faculties, schools, and departments for their nominations. Our appreciation also goes to the alumni leaders, including Ir Yau, Ms Susanna Chan, Ms Karen Siu, Mr Johnny Leung, Ms Bianca Ho, and Ms Silvia Ihensekhien, for their enthusiastic support of this event.
