Let’s have a round of applause for Prof. Heng Li, Chair Professor of Construction Informatics and Professor of BRE, who has recently won agrant from the Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF環境及自然保育基金) of theGovernment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region!
In the industry, most of construction wastes are suitable for land reclamation and site formation as well as can be recycled in construction, however, the current practices of construction waste sorting and recycling highly depend on manual methods. Prof.Li’s winning proposal on‘Construction Waste Sorting and Recycling Robot (建築垃圾分類回收機器人)’aims to develop a smart robot equipped with the specially-designed and automated system so as to take care of sorting and recycling as well as improve the current costly and inefficient practices.
Established under the Environment and Conservation Fund Ordinance in 1994, the ECF provides financial support for research projects, conferences, educational and other activities which contribute to the environment and conservation of Hong Kong.
